Jayne’s is pleased to assist couples wanting to minimize their ecological impact for their wedding day.  The following information is designed to assist you with ideas for creating your green wedding while reducing your environment impact.

Although we encourage all couples to be considerate of the environment when planning their wedding, we recognize that couples will take on this challenge in varied ways and honestly, small steps make a difference.  We applaud everyone’s attempt to reduce their eco impact, whether you make a small or large commitment for your wedding.

These points following provide you a few ideas as to how to reduce your carbon footprint for your wedding day…….

Small Eco Steps

Use LED reusable candles or natural wax candles
Use recycled paper products and vegetable inks for your invitations & stationary
Create one menu
Use locally grown flowers
Use potted flowers for centerpieces
Give seedlings or plantable paper favors or something edible
Use online or email rsvps options for your guests
Host your ceremony and reception in one location to reduce travel emissions
Use china and glassware instead of disposables
Rent linen that is made of hemp fabric or other natural & sustainable fabric
Ensure all glass bottles (alcohol and otherwise) are recycled
Purchase a vintage wedding gown
Donate your flowers to nursing homes or hospitals
Consider using an outdoor venue with natural lighting to reduce energy consumption
Use a digital photographer who provides on line proofs – you print what you want to keep
Rent décor items or make your own décor items
Use only local wines and beers at your reception

Large Eco Steps

Wear a wedding gown/ suit made of hemp, raw silk or other natural & sustainable fabric
Use a caterer with a commitment to using local and organic food products
Have all stationary printed on recycled/natural paper with vegetable based inks
Make your own jewelry with salvaged jewelry pieces
Have wedding rings made from wood instead of gems or metals
Provide public or mass transit to your guests
Honeymoon at an eco tourist destination
Purchase carbon offsets to compensate for power used by DJ, caterer, venue, transportation, etc.
